Celebrating the 10th Annual Health Freedom Walk

On Saturday, June 14, 2014, approximately 170 walkers and volunteers gathered at Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park in Sandy Spring, MD, for the tenth annual Health Freedom: A Path to Wellness Walk.

Co-hosted by the African American Health Program and Health Freedom, Inc., the 2-mile hike encourages participants to engage in healthy behaviors and begin or continue their personal paths to wellness. The walk also highlights Montgomery County's historical role in the Underground Railroad by following a path similar to that traveled by slaves on their way to freedom.

This year's event boasted many additional activities for walk participants, including period reenactments, African dance, gospel music, smoothie treats, health information, and free screenings.
