Protesters hope to spark dialogue about police brutality
Protesters in several U.S. cities were arrested after blocking highways and swarming police precincts in response to recent incidents of police brutality.
At least two dozen #BlackLivesMatter protesters were taken to jail. On Monday, activists launched a 9-day march from New York City to Washington D.C. in the name of justice.
The activists hoisted signs that read, “Stop murder by police” and “stop killer cops.” Activists say they hope to spark a national conversation on the issue.
At least 12 people, some who appeared to be school-aged, were arrested following a brief scuffle with police in New York after crossing the Brooklyn Bridge.
