There’s another major entertainment event in St. Louis which has been cancelled while the city faces significant protests in multiple areas.
The Messina Touring Group announced that Ed Sheeran will not be holding a concert at the Scottrade Center tomorrow night due to security concerns. Fans are being offered refunds for tickets, and the tour company has posted a message to address the situation:
“With the safety of the fans being of upmost concern, and after consulting with local officials, who could not fully commit to providing a sufficient amount of police and other city services support, we felt it was in everyone’s best interest to cancel Sunday night’s show. While we regret to have had to come to this decision, we do look forward to returning to St. Louis as soon as Ed’s schedule will allow in 2018.”
The announcement comes as St. Louis continues to deal with civil unrest after former cop Jason Stockley was acquitted yesterday for fatally shooting a black drug suspect several years ago. A number of violent incidents have been reported, and earlier today, U2 cited a lack of police protection when they announced they were cancelling their own show tonight.[Image via screengrab]
