It appears that Hot 97 veteran Funkmaster Flex has waged war against Jay Z and isn’t planning to let up any time soon.
This all started a few days ago when Flex went on the radio and shared that a couple years ago he got an interview request from Jay Z’s Life & Times online magazine to do a story on his Funk Flex app. Allegedly, the reporter who did the interview gathered details about Flex’s new business venture, only to have that information later used to create Jay Z’s Samsung app.
The theory that Jay Z had a double agent reporter doing dirty work on his behalf (for the creation of a phone app no less) seemed a bit far fetched to some and Flex didn’t make a fuss about the incident when it originally happened.
But when the publication emailed him this week asking to do another interview, that set the DJ off on an epic rant in which he called Life & Times “trash” several times on air and blasted Hov’s failures in the digital market.
“I let that app thing slide. But that email you sent today means you’re tryna play me” he screamed at one point. And apparently all that noise got Jay Z’s attention, because now Flex has released the picture below of Mr Carter reaching out to speak to him.
Instead of calling a truce, Jay Z’s use of cap locks in that text inspired yet another tirade on Saturday night. Flex warned on air:
In 2015, you are a commercial corporate rapper that drops a little catchphrase every three months. No there’s nothing wrong with that. I think that’s super dope. Don’t talk to me funny in the text, bruh. I don’t work for you.
Grio fam, do you think Funkmaster Flex has a reason to be this upset or is he making a big deal out of nothing?
