Bahamas : 58 Haitian boat people intercepted
On Friday the Royal Bahamas Defense Force patrolling the Exuma Islands of the Bahamas archipelago spotted and intercepted an overcrowded boat with 58 Haitians (52 men and 6 women) on board. PNH NOTICE : payment of risk premiums
The State, in order to respect its commitment to all law enforcement officers and their risk premiums, informs that from Monday, November 11, 2019 afternoon, the risk premium checks for the period from April to September will be available to the General Directorate of the National Police of Haiti (PNH).
3 bandits arrested in Petit-Goâve
On Saturday 9 November, following vandalism and robbery perpetrated at the crossroads of Rue Benoit in Petit Goâve, police from the Omega Police Station (Carrefour), in collaboration with the Petit-Goâve Police, arrested three men, members of the Base Rue Benoit at Carrefour. Very worrying situation in Haiti
“The situation in Haiti is particularly worrying […] the French Embassy and the French Institute have been the target of acts of vandalism […] The President of the Republic of Haiti must be up to the circumstances. We accompany him, if he wishes it,” said this week the French Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne.
Agreement between the opposition and civil society groups
Yesterday Saturday after two days of sometimes stormy discussions an agreement was reached between opposition political parties and civil society groups. A judge of the Court of Cassation will be chosen to replace President Jovenel Moïse, whose resignation they have been demanding for more than two months. No timetable was communicated for the implementation of this agreement where only the existence of a roadmap was mentioned.
Miami Consulate closed
The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Miami informs the Haitian community in particular and the general public that the Consulate will be closed Monday, November 11, 2019 on the occasion of “Veterans Day”. The activities at the Consulate will normally resume on Tuesday 12 November from 8.00 am.
