Man killed in plane crash off Florida Keys

A Jupiter man is dead after crashing his plane into the Gulf side waters off of Marathon Monday morning. According to police, Edward Elgin, 53, was the only passenger on board a single-engine Piper aircraft when it crashed about a mile offshore of 63rd Street in Marathon. When the U.S. Coast Guard and Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded to the scene, crews found the plane fully submerged. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
