PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Central State Marauders fell behind by double-figures early on and never recovered in a 88-65 road loss to Lake Eric College on Wednesday.
The loss drops the Marauders to 03 on the year while the Lake Erie Storm improve to 2-1.
CSU began its night by surrendering the first 13 points to the Storm. Lake Erie led by as many as 25 in the first half and took a 43-25 edge into intermission.
The Storm built their lead up to 31 by the 9:06 mark of the second half and cruised to the 23-point victory.
As a team, Lake Erie converted 59.3% of its shot attempts while CSU shot 43.5% from the field. A key difference in the game was Lake Erie’s 11 for 36 shooting performance from three-point range compared to CSU’s four makes from beyond the arc on 32 attempts. The Storm also outrebounded the Marauders, 45-31, while the LE reserves outscored the CSU bench, 32-17.
Gabe Kynard led the Storm with 16 points and five assists. Harrison Riggs contributed 13 points. Erron James recorded 12 pints and five assists. David Dunnigan finished with 10 points and 7 rebounds to lead the LE bench.
Freshman Dorian Crutcher led CSU’s scoring efforts with 15 points. Dwight Richards, Jr. added 14 points and five rebounds.
CSU will return home to play Ohio University – Eastern this Sunday at 3 pm.

Falling to 0-3, CSU has recorded back-to-back 0-3 records to begin the season. Last year, CSU recovered to win the SIAC West Division title.
CSU is currently in the middle of a stretch in which seven of eight games are on the road.
