Week 6: Volleyball Players of the Week


ATLANTA, Ga. (October 9, 2018)V’Aira Harris (Benedict) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Joleisha McClenton (Albany State) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Ashleigh Reeves (Benedict) was also tabbed Setter of the Week alongside Deja Clark (Central State) who earned Newcomer of the Week.
 
OFFENSIVE – V’Aira Harris, Junior, Outside Hitter, Benedict
 

Harris led the Tigers to a 3-1 record on last week as she posted 35 kills on last week as they swept Johnson & Wales, Morris, and Fort Valley State. The Columbia, S.C. native added 42 digs, four service aces, three assists, and three blocks for the Tigers.
 
DEFENSIVE – Joleisha McClenton, Sophomore, Defensive Specialist, Albany State
 
McClenton posted 35 digs for the Golden Rams last week. The Sanford, Fl. native posted 17 digs against USC Aiken and 10 digs against Clark Atlanta. The sophomore defensive specialist finished the week with four aces, and two assists.
 
SETTER – Ashleigh Reeves, Freshman, Setter, Benedict
 
Reeves had performed exceptionally for the Tigers as she posted 120 assists to lead Benedict to a 3-1 record last week. The rookie setter finished the week with 32 digs, seven blocks, three kills, and three aces.
 
NEWCOMER – Deja Clark, Junior, Outside Hitter, Central State
 
Deja Clark, a transfer from the University of Evansville, led CSU to a 1-1 record over the weekend. Clark’s combined totals were 19 kills, 21 digs, three blocks, four assists, and four blocks.
